More on books and things
Oct. 15th, 2004 06:26 pmI haven't posted in a while about my book database. Actually I haven't been doing a very good job of keeping it updated. The other day I finally updated it with some of the audiobooks I have listened to, but I'm afraid I might have omitted some. Oh well. Hopefully they'll come to me eventually. I haven't had much time for reading, except for school reading. I'm trying to get through the new World of Darkness core rulebook, as I'm hoping to run a Vampire game based on the new rules. I'm also contemplating converting a short horror game I had planned to run to the new WoD rules, hopefully to be played sometime between now and Halloween. It is that time of year!
My sister sent me this article, a transcript of a conversation/interview with three authors: Philip Pullman, Tamora Pierce and Christopher Paolini. I found it interesting, especially since I recently listened to Pierce's Trickster's Choice (Trini Alvarado, the reader, does a wonderful job) and really enjoyed it, so much so that I listened to it not only in my car but with my walkman all over the place. And I'm currently listening to Paolini's Eragon (the reader is pretty good, though I really dislike the way he renders the dragon's voice), which I'm enjoying, though not as much. I started looking in the young adult section at the library for audiobooks, and I think the readers are generally somewhat better than those for adults. I'm planning to eventually get some read by Tim Curry (Sabriel, which I know my sisters read and enjoyed, and the Lemony Snicket books are all read by Tim Curry, I believe). It's interesting thinking about how the reader adds to or subtracts from the experience.
I'm currently sending my resume out in hopes of finding a job or internship, particularly for after I graduate.
