I won't know if it's a male or female until it molts. Its name is MuShi, short for Murasaki Shikibu, one of my personal heroes. Also a bit of wordplay, as murasaki is the Japanese word for purple and it's an Avicularia Purpurea (Purple Pinktoe - link is to the care sheet posted on the shop I ordered from) which is a purplish black tarantula when grown; and mushi is the Japanese word for bug. I'm sorry the pictures aren't better; I gave away my good camera a while ago and haven't replaced it yet so all I've got is my phone.
