Oh, and another thing...
Sep. 18th, 2005 05:36 pmIn case people wonder why we don't see them much lately, if at all, there really is a good reason for it.
Brian is working two jobs. Two jobs.
Brian is going to school.
Brian has a ten year old son who requires supervision.
Between the two of us, we have one car.
We have no money for going out.
When Brian's working or at school (which is most of the time), I watch Zack. I'm at the apartment watching him, and I would be okay with bringing him along sometimes to hang out with people, but I have no car. This week, Brian has had only Friday off from both work and school, and he had an online test that day and lots of homework to catch up on.
We have no money for going out.
I'm okay with all of this - it's hard, but I can deal. Especially since it's all for a good cause, and Brian and I have a really good partnership. But I don't like people thinking that we're choosing not to hang out with them because we don't care. We do, we just aren't able to do that much these days. This is a simple fact, unavoidable and true.
Brian has Fridays off, usually, this is the night when people can come see us. We don't have money for a babysitter, so we can't usually go out on Fridays, but it may occasionally be possible.
I really thought most of this was obvious and reasonably understandable to those who know us, but apparently it's not clear to everyone. So I thought I would clarify.
We don't want any money or anything like that. Occasional childcare assistance has been offered and is very very much appreciated (thank you guys!!!! you know who you are). Mostly we could use some patience, compassion and understanding.
